Dignifying Diversity: Free All at the European Night of Researchers

FreeAll - 30th sept

On September 30, the University of Jaén and ASEIS participated in the 12th edition of the European Night of Researchers, an act of scientific dissemination at the national level that aroused the interest, in the province of Jaén, of more than 10,000 people who passed for the different workshops that were organized.

This activity brought together more than 90 activities, among which “FREE-ALL: DIGNIFYING DIVERSITY” stands out, within the framework of the European project FREE-ALL, financed by the European Union. The workshop contributed to raising awareness with 5 real stories of people belonging to the LGTBIQA+ collective, in addition to playing a game of matching terms with their reference to gender identity, sexual orientation and gender expression.

In this game, concepts related to LGTBIQA+ people were used, as well as the stereotypes attributed to them, the prejudices directed at them and the discrimination they suffer. In this way, the workshop had an impact on improving the training and awareness of the population of Jaen who turned to this workshop, receiving it with a great reception.

It was very interesting to observe how people of all ages, from children to people over 70 years of age, were interested in and aware of the need to continue supporting and improving the conditions and well-being of LGTBIQA+ people.
